Soie & Forme began with a quiet frustration. Ask for silk in most stores, and you will be handed something that calls itself silk. The label says so. The price suggests so. But much of what is sold as silk today is polyester finished to mimic the shine, or a blend so diluted the original fibre is barely there. The word has been stretched until it means almost nothing. We wanted to make something honest. So we tell you exactly what you are buying — the momme weight, the grade, the origin, the treatment. If we cannot trace it, we will not sell it. The soie is the fibre itself, named for what it actually is. The forme is everything we build around it: cut, finish, structure. Pieces made to last, made to be repaired, made to be lived with. We also believe natural fibre should not be reserved for the very few. We work directly with our makers, keep our overhead small, and price our pieces so that someone who cares about what they bring into their home can actually afford to. Not cheaply. Fairly. Our aesthetic is drawn from Chinese ink painting — the single brushstroke, the empty space around it, the idea that restraint is its own kind of beauty. Silk is soft. Silk is also strong. We named the brand for both, because the people who wear our pieces and sleep on them are the same: soft enough to want something that feels good against the skin, strong enough to ask where it came from, and to expect a real answer.
